Inlet & discharge silencers

The inlet and discharge of high performance blowers are noise sources of an above average level. It is therefore common practice that the noise level of industrial fans is specified with connected pipework.

In a compressor arrangement, the noise from the inlet is reduced by one or two duct silencers, in combination with a metal mesh filter or an inlet filter with silencer that combines these functions. If a safety valve is installed on the outlet of the compressor which is activated frequently during normal operation, then a discharge silencer is also installed on the safety valve.

In a vacuum pump arrangement, the exhaust noise is reduced by using one or two inlet silencers. The noise from the vacuum relief valve is reduced by installing inlet silencers or an inlet filter with silencer.
